Wadi Disah is a canyon in the Tabuk region of north-west Saudi Arabia, and the day divides between a 4x4 on the sand track and your own feet on the valley floor. Rock walls close in on both sides, palms grow along the bed of the wadi, and the vehicle drops you where the ground turns too soft to drive.
Expect a long transfer at either end and several hours inside the canyon in the middle. The walking is flat but the surface is loose and sandy in places, so it is a day for proper shoes. It pairs well with AlUla for anyone crossing between the north-west and Madinah province.
Day by day
Morning
An early start from your hotel for the drive out to the canyon mouth, where the vehicle changes onto the track. You go in as far as the sand allows, then continue on foot between the walls. The morning is the cooler half and takes in the longest walking section of the day.
Afternoon
Lunch is taken in the shade of the palms, with time to sit before moving again. The afternoon covers a second stretch of the valley at a slower pace, with stops for photographs where the walls narrow. The vehicle collects you for the drive back, and you reach your hotel in the evening.
