Tabuk is the north-west: sandstone desert, the Hejaz Railway, and the canyon country toward the Jordanian border.
Tabuk Castle stands on the old road that ran from Damascus to Madinah, and its towers were used to watch that road. The Hejaz Railway station in the city belongs to the same route - the line was begun in 1900 and took eight years to build, running pilgrims and freight south from Damascus before it was broken in the First World War.
The province holds a large number of archaeological sites, and the landscape west and south of the city is the sandstone and canyon country that the region is really known for.
There is no entry ticket for either the castle or the railway station.

Tabuk has an airport and is the natural base for the far north-west.

Tabuk Province is rich with numerous archaeological sites that reveal the history of the area, allowing us to witness symbols of an ancient past, such as Tabuk Archaeological Castle, which dates back over five centuries and is now one of the most important historical castles and tourist landmarks in the region.
