A boat day for divers who already hold a certification. You dive twice on the reefs off Jeddah, with a briefing before each dive and a surface interval on board in between. Your certification card and logbook are checked before boarding, so bring both.
Saudi Arabia has more than 1,700 kilometres of Red Sea coastline, and the reefs dived on this day are the ones reached by boat from the Jeddah waterfront. If you are diving your way along the coast, Yanbu is another Red Sea base for reef diving.
Day by day
Morning
Pick-up from your hotel and transfer to the boat. Paperwork and certification checks are done on the dock, then tanks and weights are loaded and you set up your kit on board. The first dive follows the crossing out, after a briefing on the site, the plan and the signals to be used.
Afternoon
The surface interval is spent on the boat with water and something to eat, long enough to rest properly between dives. The second dive is briefed separately and chosen on the day, based on conditions and on how the first one went. You are back on shore in the afternoon and driven to your hotel.
