Dammam and Al Khobar are the Gulf coast cities, and the base for Al Ahsa and the Eastern Province.
This is the industrial and administrative heart of the oil region, and it reads that way: it is a place people live and work rather than a heritage destination. The Khobar seafront runs along the Gulf as the main public space, with the causeway to Bahrain leaving from here.
Its value on a trip is position. Al Ahsa - the World Heritage oasis - is inland from here, and the airport is well connected.
Getting there and when to go
Dammam has an international airport and rail connections inland to Riyadh and Al Ahsa.

What the tourism authority says
The Khobar Sea Front welcomes its visitors with water and greenery, where towering trees spread as far as the eye can see and art pieces are scattered throughout.
